For over 40 years, PTTEP has committed to providing secure and affordable energy to the countries where it operates. Starting from its roots in Thailand, PTTEP has grown into a recognized company in the oil and gas sector with operations across more than 50 projects globally.

Building Expertise in E&P

PTTEP's foundations have been built through decades of expertise in exploration and production (E&P). A key milestone in its growth began in 1998 when it became the operator of the Bongkot field (currently known as G2/61 Project) in the Gulf of Thailand. Since then, PTTEP has expanded its operations overseas, with its first presence in the Middle East as an operator in Oman. Today, PTTEP maintains a significant foothold in Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, the UAE, Oman, and other prolific areas such as Algeria and Mozambique. The success the company has achieved is closely tied to the long-term partnerships it has forged across these regions.

Recently, PTTEP has strengthened its long-term partnerships in the Middle East through its participation in the Ghasha Concession, one of the largest natural gas fields in the UAE, which demonstrates the company’s continued commitment to create a sustainable energy future that brings long-term benefits to the region.

Driving Innovation through Technology

At the core of PTTEP’s growth strategy is the belief that technological innovation is essential for sustainable progress. Through its DigitalX Project, which integrates 65 advanced digital tools aimed at enhancing competitiveness and driving sustainable growth. PathSight is one of those technologies PTTEP will be showcasing at ADIPEC. Using advanced algorithms and subsurface data, PathSight optimizes drilling locations to maximize reserve extraction, it is an end-to-end solution for subsurface challenges. This is just one of the innovations PTTEP has leveraged digital technologies to achieve sustainable growth. PTTEP has enhanced operational efficiency, reduced costs, and increased revenues, generating over USD 560 million in net benefits since 2019.

Transitioning to a Low-Carbon Future

These technological innovations not only improve PTTEP’s efficiency but also play a pivotal role in its transition to become a low-carbon organization. In 2022, the company announced its EP Net Zero 2050 concept, setting a roadmap to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. Several initiatives have been deployed, including the adoption of solar and wind power, along with the implementation of the Zero Routine Flare initiative for new projects starting in 2030. Moreover, PTTEP is in the advanced study stage for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) at the Arthit field in the Gulf of Thailand and the Lang Lebah field in Block SK 410B, Malaysia.

Investing in Beyond E&P

The recent investments in projects like the Hyduqm Project in Oman, a green hydrogen initiative, and the Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm in Scotland reflect PTTEP’s expanding focus on low-carbon energy. These projects will provide valuable experience as PTTEP builds its competency in this area and represent a significant step toward its commitment to become a low-carbon organization.

Looking Forward: A Future-ready Path to Sustainable Energy

PTTEP’s 40-year journey highlights its continued drive for energy security, sustainability, and innovation. As the energy landscape transforms, PTTEP remains committed to evolving and shaping a low-carbon future through long-term partnerships and technology to address the energy challenges of today and tomorrow.
