PTTEP joins the Northern Gulf of Thailand CCS study
Dr. Poonpat Leesombatpiboon (2nd from left), Deputy Director-General of the Thai Department of Mineral Fuels (DMF), Ministry of Energy, and Mr. Montri Rawanchaikul (center), Chief Executive Officer of PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP), attended the signing ceremony for an agreement to conduct a joint study on the carbon storage potential in the Northern Gulf of Thailand. The agreement was signed by Mr. Nopasit Chaiwanakupt (2nd from right), Acting Executive Vice President, Technology, Carbon Solutions, and Sustainable Growth Group, PTTEP; Mr. Satoshi Asawa (far left), Executive Vice President of the Energy Business Unit, Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC); and Mr. Toshiaki Takimoto (far right), Director, Managing Executive Officer, and Senior Vice President of Hydrogen & CCUS Development, INPEX CORPORATION.
The joint study is under the international partnership between DMF and JOGMEC from Japan. It will provide insights and information to outline Thailand's Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) development plan in the Gulf of Thailand, as well as support the reduction of industrial carbon emissions from the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).
