APDT Conference and Exhibition opens its doors today A vibrant venue for oil & gas professionals to advance drilling operations

Bangkok, August 9, 2022 – IADC/SPE Asia Pacific Drilling Technology (APDT) Conference and Exhibition to showcase the latest developments in oil and gas drilling operations under the theme of “Well Technologies to Deliver Energy Transition and Sustainable Development”, has opened its doors today. The event marks its collaboration between the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) and is proudly hosted by PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP). The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Sarawut Kaewtathip, Director General, Department of Mineral Fuels, Mr. Montri Rawanchaikul, Chief Executive Officer of PTTEP, Mr. Suksant Onvises, Executive Vice President, Operations Support Group of PTTEP, Mr. Benjamin Choo, Senior Vice President, Well Engineering and Operations Division of PTTEP, Mr. Henricus Herwin, Director- Asia Pacific Region of SPE, Mr. Mike DuBose, Senior Vice President of IADC and Mr. Arthur Russi, Senior Manager, Marketing, Asia and Australia of Transocean.

The 2022 APDT is held on August 9-10, 2022 at Conrad Hotel, Bangkok. More than 500 industry professionals gathering from over 25 countries worldwide will discuss and share ideas on technological advancements to improve overall operational efficiency, facilitate sustainable practices in drilling and close the gap towards net zero.

Mr. Montri Rawanchaikul, Chief Executive Officer of PTTEP, as the 2022 APDT Conference Chair, said “The oil and gas industry is currently facing evolving challenges including digital disruption, energy transition as well as the impacts from greenhouse gas and climate change. Therefore, we must seek new approaches in applying technologies and business models to achieve cost and operational efficiencies, while creating the right balance in environmental aspect for the sustainable growth.”

This APDT conference will feature conferences and panel sessions delivered by key industry leaders and experts, and more than 90 technical papers from 33 companies. 10 technical papers were submitted by PTTEP such as “Novel Technologies and Digital” and “Data Acquisition and Innovative Technologies”. In addition, an exhibition will showcase the latest industry advancements from leading companies. PTTEP’s booth will exhibit advanced technologies that support exploration and production activities such as MERIns, the Intelligent Pipeline Internal Sampling Pig for collecting samples from the internal surface of pipeline for lab analysis of contaminants, Roto Climber, the world's first vertical pipe inspection and maintenance robotic service and Thermite, the technology for well plugging and abandonment.
